G# intervals
Simple intervals from perfect unison to major seventh, with interval size, semitone count and keyboard playback.
What is an interval
An interval is the relationship between two pitches. Its full name combines generic size and quality: for example, a major third and diminished fourth are spelled differently although they may sound enharmonically equivalent. On the keyboard, its acoustic span is easy to count in semitone steps from the first key to the second.
Interval structure describes the construction of scales, chords, and melodic patterns. It supports harmonic analysis, transposition, and ear training. An augmented fourth and diminished fifth both span six semitones but take different names because of their diatonic spelling; see the enharmonic page.
